About Hannah Photography
Hello! Thank you for visiting and we hope you have fun exploring! Hannah Photography is on quite a journey and we would love for you to join us...
It all began right back in 2002 while I was attending James Cook University in Townsville, studying a bachelor of photography degree, and the concept of running a family portrait studio was first conceived. After graduating at the ripe old age of 19 I embarked on worldly travels, deciding more life experience was needed before setting up a business! A highlight in the seven years of travel, was an incredible experience with Venture Photography in Edinburgh where I was introduced to a unique and fun style of portraiture. Two wonderful years of being a part of the Venture team were enjoyed before I returned home to launch HP with focus and dedication.
August 2012 is when I launched HP, welcoming exactly zero families into the studio in the first month! Thankfully we were fortunate to nestle our way into a charismatic little old shop on the corner at Norman Park and it's here that we slowly but surely made ourselves known within the community, Brisbane itself and even further abroad, meeting so many amazing families with their unique stories to tell.
One year into the business... Along came the talented, quiet achiever, Olivia Pratt. Olivia was only 18 and still studying photography at The Design College Australia. Within a few years, Olivia became the full time business portfolio and event photographer as well as capturing portraits and weddings as a team.
In 2017, I married the love of my life, Nic, and we moved away from our little shop into an equally charismatic and unique space off the beaten track in Annerley. On a quiet street located between Ipswich and Annerley Roads, this commercial building was one of the first mechanic garages in Brisbane, built in 1903. A truly unique space and absolutely perfect for the studio, it was an essential next step in solidifying the foundations for the business. In 2019 we welcomed our newest addition to the HP Team - Angela Lewis, who is already flying solo on business portfolios, events and weddings, while completing a bachelor of photography at QCA.
We loved our time in "The Shed" as it became known... however, after completing the three year commercial lease and living onsite for its entirety, Nic and I managed to purchase a beautiful property in Camp Hill that will be the forever home for the studio. This particular location had been in our sights for a while due to it's prominent position in their neighbourhood where I grew up, as well as it's ideal layout for the studio itself. So, in 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, Hannah - self employed, and Nic - still completing a carpentry apprenticeship - somehow managed to purchase our dream home and studio.
October 2020 is when we opened the doors to our Camp Hill studio for the very first time welcomed 50 families into the studio in the first month! I am still just as enthusiastic about capturing family portraits as I was in 2012 when it all began. Olivia and Angela are the most dedicated and talented photographers and together, we make a great team, committed to ensuring you love the whole experience.
Since settling into our "Forever Studio" I have finally become a Mum myself! To a beautiful baby boy, Xavier - so worth the wait for Nic and I! Our fur-babies Charlie (the cat) and George (the dog) have welcomed the human addition beautifully and we love being a family of 5! The experience of becoming a mum has reinforced why family portraits are so very important. Time seems to simply disappear with this brand new human around and he is growing up so very quickly! The best way to freeze time is with a photograph - to capture this very moment so that it can be cherished and re-lived forever.
We would love for you to visit us, check out the studio and gallery and see if we can be a small part of your journey in life. Here's to the next chapter! X
